Jeff Bezos, the American business magnate who is the founder and CEO of Amazon, one of the world’s greatest technical companies, will stand down from his post on Monday.
Andy Jassy, the current CEO of Amazon Web Services, will take over as the new CEO.
However, Bezos, who is 57 years old, will continue to play a key role as the company’s executive chairman. He will not be involved in day-to-day operations and will devote more attention to other ventures, including his aerospace firm Blue Origin.
Amazon began as an online bookstore in a garage 27 years ago, when Bezos packaged orders himself and transported them to post offices. He is now the world’s richest person.
He led the company to new heights and developed its operations in a variety of areas, including e-commerce, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital streaming.
According to news agency AFP, Amazon, which is generally regarded as the most valuable brand on the planet, has a market worth of over $1.7 trillion.
Even after a divorce deal with ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, in which he granted her a portion of his interest, Jeff Bezos’ net worth is close to $200 billion.
Many people have criticized Bezos. Last month, ProPublica published a bombshell report claiming to have seen Bezos’ tax records and alleging that he paid no taxes in 2007 and 2011. It was a shocking allegation about the richest man on the planet.
Other unfavorable reports about Amazon, such as its ruthlessness and monopolistic charges, haven’t helped Bezos’ image.
Many of his coworkers, on the other hand, are unaware of the stereotype that he is uncaring or selfish.
According to BBC News, he is a corporate visionary — a man with a solitary purpose who has built a famous work philosophy and a corporation worth about $1.8 trillion (£1.3 trillion).
He’s always been captivated with space travel, and he plans to fly into space for the first time later this month.
