Nigerian Army forces stationed at the Iggah/Asaba checkpoint to checkmate gunmen’s activities in the Adani community of Enugu State’s Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area have thwarted an alleged Eastern Security Network (ESN) gun attack.
Army spokesman, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, said two soldiers were killed during the firefight that ensued.
“Troops are currently on the trail of the criminals,” Nwachukwu said.
“We assure the general public of our commitment to provide adequate security in the general area in collaboration with other security agencies.”
Nwachukwu asked members of the public to support security authorities’ efforts by abiding by the law and providing relevant information on the fleeing militants.
