INEC sets dates for Ekiti, Osun governorship Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed June 18 and July 16, 2021 for the Ekiti and Osun States governorship elections.

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), revealed the information during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) in Abuja on Wednesday.

The move, according to Yakubu, is part of the commission’s policy of publicizing election dates in advance so that everyone may plan ahead of time.

He explained that the governorship of Ekiti will end on October 15, 2022, while that of Osun will end on November 26, 2022.

“The detailed Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the two elections have been uploaded on the Commission’s website and social media platforms”, he added.

“The INEC boss implored political parties and aspirants to ensure rancor-free primaries and conduct peaceful electioneering campaigns.”
