Asisat Oshoala, the African Women’s Footballer of the Year and a forward for FC Barcelona, has complimented Allen Onyema, the CEO of Air Peace, for donating N20 million to the Super Eagles.
For the Super Eagles’ victory over Cape Verde in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier last week, Onyema pledged and redeemed the present. Oshoala praised the act, noting that Onyema’s engagement through his firm
“I am glad that we now have a philanthropist helping to grow sports in Nigeria.
“I have never met Mr. Onyema, but I have heard a lot about him, his good works sponsoring the NFF and the national team as a whole. We need to praise him because it is not easy to bring out money from your pocket and develop football in Africa, especially Nigeria.
“I am proud of Allen Onyema. To me, he is currently the pillar of sports in Nigeria.
When I spoke to some of the Super Eagles players, who were excited on his gesture, I was told Air Peace flew the Eagles in and out of Cape Verde. They said he also gave the Eagles money for winning the game.
“We need more Allen Onyemas in Nigeria for sports to grow. May God bless him,” she said.
