Oyo government set to clamp down on illegal miners, revenue defaulters

The government of Oyo State has warned illegal miners that if they continue, they will face the wrath of the law.

Mr. Abiodun Oni, Chairman of the Oyo State Minerals Development Agency, who made the announcement yesterday in Ibadan, also warned operators in the state to follow the existing norms and regulations governing the mining industry.

Oni, therefore, warned illegal miners who embark on mining activities without official permission and revenue defaulters to desist from those acts.

Besides, he said the state government was ready to partner with relevant stakeholders to increase the state’s resource control and economic development.
