It was a night of entertaining goal scoring European Football as Man United came from behind to earn an emphatic 6-2 win over AS Roma in the Europa League semifinal first leg at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
The two teams scored early goals in the first half, with Bruno Fernandes scoring for the hosts before AS Roma equalized from the spot after VAR reviewed that Paul Pogba had handled the ball in the area.
Edin Dzeko put Roma in front, from close range after some nice buildup play. The team from Italy took a one-goal lead at half time. It was all looking like Manchester united wont make it pass through another Semi final match after falling to get through in their last 4 previous semi final games played under the manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer
United came into the second half strong and determined and drew level early in the second half with fine finish from Edinson Cavani after putting a one time shot past the Roma goal keeper in post
Cavani then gave man united the lead 60 minutes into the second half when he put the ball into the net after Aarons Wan Bissaka’s shot was stopped by the goal keeper.
It didn’t take long when Roma’s Chris Smalling conceded a penalty for a foul on Cavani shortly after the hosts took the lead and Bruno Fernandes converted the kick sending the goal keeper the wrong way and scoring is 20 out of 21 penalties he has taken for Man United
The party was not over yet Paul Pogba’s also got on the scorers sheet through a short corner kick that was played in by Bruno Fernandes
Substitute Mason Greenwood put the tie further out of reach for Roma with a fine finish when he was placed through on goal by Edison Cavani
What look like a night where Man United could be half way out of the Europa League by Roma turned out to be a night they show they are truly Manchester united and they are one leg into the Europa League Finals.
